The Psalms are a treasure! From the first words of Psalm 1 – Blessed is the man… who delights in the law of the LORD to the last verse of the last Psalm – Let everything that has breath praise the LORD, they express the circumstances, thoughts, and trials of humans and our relationship to the Creator.

They are some of the most quoted Scriptures in the Bible. David, the shepherd boy and later King of Israel, and musical directors composed many of the Psalms. In their original meaning they included stringed instruments. Musical lyrics written for singing with others and sometimes alone. Some are prayers that pour out the author’s heart to God. While others are very worshipful, describing and declaring the attributes of God.
