Read Psalm 5 here.
Don’t you wish you could have the superpower of Violet in the Incredibles? She can set up a force field that people and forces can’t penetrate. We could sure use that whether a mom with a long night with an infant, a teacher struggling under the workload and family obligations, a factory lineperson trying to keep up, or a CEO with many responsibilities.
I sometimes think of God putting that superpower around us. Talking to him puts us in the position to have that cover. We can talk to him anytime, but a particularly strategic time to talk with him is in the morning.
Muddling through to midday or evening in our own power wastes a lot of energy and can cause a lack of focus. It keeps us vulnerable to all the daily frustrations and distractions.
Coming to him to ask him to lead our day alleviates a whole lot of stress. Relinquishing control hang on to lightens the burdens. Doing this in the early morning sets a covering over us for the rest of the day. It puts us in a good frame of mind to face the day. We are reminded that he will filter our day, letting in what he wants for us that day while keeping out the rest.
Take your day to God. Listen to him as you go through the day. See what comes your way and accept changes to your day as part of his plan. Your interruptions become opportunities and sometimes answers to those stressful situations around us.
Let God’s real superpower surround and cover you.
Get Moving:
Set your alarm for just five minutes earlier tomorrow. Spend that time with God.
If you don’t like setting the alarm earlier, prepare the usual morning task the night before to allow room for a few moments of prayer the next morning.
